The Dream Society

Apologies for the silence, everyone. I haven’t posted in a week or two because, quite frankly, there hasn’t been much significant to report. Most of my recent time has been spent meeting with people who have experience in the arts, the music business, and the hospitality sector. I’ve also been in ongoing discussions with the co-op’s board about the purchase of its assets and the possible transfer of its liquor license. In between those meetings, I’ve been updating the website and refining the business model based on those conversations.

From my perspective, the most encouraging news in a while is that the province and the BCGEU have reached a tentative deal. Voting takes place next week and, if all goes well, we should be able to incorporate The Dream Society shortly afterward. Once that happens, I’m optimistic things will begin to move much more quickly. Until then, I’m hesitant to go fully public with the re-launch.

In case you’re wondering — yes, we’ve already raised a meaningful sum through membership sales (a big shout-out to everyone who has joined so far!). I don’t have the precise total yet since the funds are flowing through CFSO, but I’ll be meeting with Aaron McRann in the coming days and expect to have more details soon.

While there’s no firm reopening date just yet, I attended the first volunteer meeting for the 2026 Ignite the Arts Festival last night and couldn’t help but think it might be the perfect occasion to throw open the doors. The festival runs March 27 – 29, 2026, and historically The Dream Café has been closely involved. I spoke with Julie Fowler and Paul Crawfordabout potential collaborations and hope to share more on that front soon. In the meantime, I encourage you to volunteer for the festival — or, at the very least, grab some tickets once they go on sale.

That’s all for now. If you have questions or ideas, please add a reply below. And as always, thank you for your ongoing interest and support! 🙏🏻
