Colleen Brown is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from Alberta who spent her childhood in Lloydminster, on the border of Saskatchewan and Alberta, where she studied ballet, visual art, classical piano, voice and musical theatre. Upon moving to Edmonton, she studied music at Grant MacEwan College in the Vocal Performance Program. Colleen Brown is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter on a mission looking for beauty in the darker corners of human existence. With versatile songwriting and a vulnerable authenticity, she weaves elements of folk, roots, Americana, and pop into a sublime, striking blend. She is often compared to Heart and Joni Mitchell. As well as a skilled pianist, Brown has branched out to embrace other instruments in her performances, notably electric guitar and bass. Now, ten albums deep over a two decade career, Brown has topped Canadian college radio charts, achieved regular rotation on CBC, and toured across Canada, Germany, and the U.K. Brown has opened for household names like Randy Newman, Don McLean, Jim Cuddy, Rufus Wainwright, Frank Black, Whitehorse, Kathleen Edwards and is a fixture on the Canadian folk festival circuit as a solo artist, with Major Love, and as a touring member of Great Lake Swimmers. Her self-produced 2022 full length album "Winging It", and her most recent release with folk-rock collaboration Major Love (with members of Scenic Route To Alaska) titled "Live, Laugh, Major Love" was released in May 2024. Colleen Brown's powerful voice, exceptional songwriting, and ability to move seamlessly between intimate folk and full-band rock arrangements have made her a respected and versatile figure in Canadian music.
