Gunning and Cormier is a powerhouse Canadian folk duo consisting of award-winning songwriters Dave Gunning and JP Cormier, two of the most respected musicians on the Canadian folk and roots music scene. Their collaboration goes back 23 years to when Dave had a fiddle player drop out of a show at the last minute, and they played together, discovering a musical chemistry that has endured. Dave Gunning from Pictou County, Nova Scotia, brings his gift for gracious storytelling and warm vocals, with 14 albums, a Juno nomination, two Canadian Folk Music Awards, and eight East Coast Music Awards to his credit. JP Cormier is a Canadian bluegrass, folk, and Celtic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with thirteen East Coast Music Awards and one Canadian Folk Music Award. The duo has written songs together whenever possible over the years, creating material that has graced both their individual projects and earned numerous awards and nominations. They released their first album together, Two, in 2017, followed by Leather and Dust in 2023. Their performances showcase not only their individual talents but the deep musical understanding they have developed over decades of friendship and collaboration.
