Doug Cox and Linda McRae are a Canadian musical duo from Courtenay, BC and Nashville, TN who bring together exceptional instrumental skill and songwriting talent rooted in folk, blues, and Americana traditions. Doug Cox, born in the early 1960s, is a renowned multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music programmer best known for his mastery of the dobro and slide guitar. He discovered the dobro and became one of Canada's finest players, earning recognition as the first Canadian to perform at Dobrofest. Cox has played and recorded with diverse artists including Indian slide guitarists Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Salil Bhatt, Tex-Mex kings Los Texmaniacs, British bluesman Long John Baldry, and Austin songwriter BettySoo. Linda McRae is a Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter and member extraordinaire of the iconic Canadian band Spirit of the West. She is a 2016 BC Entertainment Hall of Fame Pioneer Inductee and 2017 Boston Family Folk Chorale Songwriting Competition winner. Her banjo, guitar, and accordion playing is unflaggingly authentic and deeply satisfying, with unforgettable melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. Together, Cox and McRae released Beyond The Great Pause, showcasing their deep roots in folk, blues, and Americana. Their performances feature virtuosic instrumental work, beautiful harmonies, and a repertoire that spans traditional and contemporary roots music, making them favorites at folk festivals and acoustic music venues across North America.
