Mike Love is an American reggae musician and singer from Hawaii who has become one of the genre's most dedicated messengers of revolutionary consciousness music. Born and raised on O'ahu, growing up in Kalama Valley and attending Henry J. Kaiser High School, Love was musically educated by his father and grandfather, both composers, as well as his steel pan instructor Frank Leto and piano teacher Beth Uale, which shaped and deepened his natural musical instincts towards melody and harmony. He started playing guitar at age 15 and soon after began performing live as frontman for 10-piece band Dubkonscious. Love developed a unique style and sound rooted in the spirituality and message-based music of reggae and Rastafari, while also fusing progressive and classic rock, soul, blues, flamenco, jazz, classical, and more. At the core of his music is healing, and he is an active social, animal, and environmental rights advocate, using his music as a tool to educate and unite. He released his debut album The Change I'm Seeking in 2012, followed by Jah Will Never Leave I Alone in 2014, which reached number three on Billboard's Reggae chart. His 2015 album Love Will Find A Way and 2016's Love Overflowing EP further established his reputation. Love attributes some of his success to his YouTube rendition of Permanent Holiday, which has more than 20 million views. He has performed at festivals and stages across the US, South and Central America, Canada, Europe, Guam, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. All of Love's albums are released independently on his own label, Love Not War Records.
