Jonathan David Dore, born November 2, 1975, in Ottawa, Ontario, is a Canadian comedian and actor renowned for his offbeat humor and unique bait-and-switch style, named one of 10 comics to watch by Variety. Dore attended Brookfield High School and studied broadcasting at Algonquin College in Ottawa before beginning his entertainment career. He spent three years co-hosting Rogers Television's Daytime, sharpening his skills and receiving the Impression Award for best on-air personality in 2001 for his work, creativity, and quick improv abilities. Dore was formerly a correspondent for CTV's Canadian Idol and is the star of his own award-winning mockumentary series The Jon Dore Television Show, which won him the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Writing on a Series in 2008 and Best Performance by a Male in a Television Show in 2009. In March 2011, he hosted Funny as Hell on HBO Canada, featuring alternative and musical comedy acts. In 2021, Dore created the single-camera sitcom Humour Resources for CBC, playing a fictional version of himself as an HR manager with unscripted interviews with Canadian and American comedians. At the 2023 JUNO Awards, Dore proudly took home the award for Comedy Album of the Year for his album A Person Who is Gingerbread. He has also received the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Stand-up Newcomer in 2006 and Best Taped Live Performance for Just for Laughs in 2010. Dore currently resides in Juneau, Alaska, with his girlfriend Christina Love and daughter Emma, bringing his unique comedic perspective to audiences across North America.
