Raincity is a Vancouver-based five-piece rage-funk band fronted by female leads on saxophone and vocals that has taken the Canadian music scene by storm with their explosive energy and unique sound. Described as an acid trip struck by lightning and the rebellious daughter of goth and ska, the band has been compared to what might happen if No Doubt had a child with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine. The band consists of Clare Twiddy, Kaylar Chan, Ryley Kirkpatrick, Carson Webber, and Sheldon D'Eith, who together create a distinctive rage-funk style that blends energetic rhythms and powerful riffs with captivating and polished musicianship. Since their inception, Raincity has performed over 300 shows, opening for acts such as Our Lady Peace, Bif Naked, and Five Alarm Funk on stages including the Commodore Ballroom and The Bill Reid Amphitheater. Their achievements include winning the Best New Sound Award at the British Columbia Music Awards and the Song of the Year title at the Canadian Independent Music Awards for their track Insomnia. The band dropped their first album, A Proper Latte, in April 2022, following their self-titled EP released in June 2019. With their progressive pairing of acoustic instrumentation with electric counterparts, harmonies, and driving rhythm, Raincity continues to develop their sound and reach new heights as one of Canada's most exciting emerging acts.
