About

Sherman Doucette was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and grew up surrounded by music, with his Dad on guitar or banjo, his brother on guitar, his Mom, sisters and aunts dancing and singing along, and his grandfather jiggin' on the harmonica. Doucette left home at fifteen with a harmonica and a twenty-dollar bill in his pocket bound for the west coast. In Vancouver, he discovered the Chicago Blues style on an album featuring Muddy Waters, Junior Wells and James Cotton. In 1977, he miraculously survived a massive explosion in a lumber mill leaving him to recover in the hospital with burns to more than 50 per cent of his body. Doucette earned the moniker Tank after this fight for his life. Through his storied career, Sherman Doucette has shared the stage with blues legends such as John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Long John Baldry, Powder Blues Band, Pinetop Perkins, Jim Byrnes, James Cotton, Gordie Johnson, John Primer, and many more. After his time with Incognito, Sherman went on to release 2 solo albums with his band, Tankful Of Blues, incorporating a wide range of Boogie, Blues & Soul. Sherman now calls the Okanagan home and is keeping the blues alive with his band Tankful of Blues. With his gritty, soulful harmonica playing, powerful vocals, and remarkable life story of survival and perseverance, Sherman Doucette represents the authentic spirit of the blues.
