Surf Hat is a cool indie surf-rock band from Squamish, British Columbia, Canada known for their unique style called cold water psych-surf which has made them popular in the music scene. The trio consists of Ravalia on bass, Camm on drums and vocals, and Jon Allan on guitar and lead vocals. More specifically, Jon Allan plays the guitar and sings, Evan Camm plays the drums and also helps with the band's visual style, and Adam Ravalia plays the bass guitar. Surf Hat started with Jon Allan and Adam Ravalia, who have been friends for over a decade, and they later included Evan Camm in the band. Jon Allan's music style is influenced by bands like Talking Heads and Allah-Las. The name Surf Hat shows their love for surfing and the ocean, which inspire their music and lyrics. Their new album, released in March, is called Surf Hat Ranch. Their self-titled debut earned them millions of streams and a fast-growing, devoted fan base across North America. With their breezy West Coast sound, psychedelic influences, and surf culture aesthetic, Surf Hat brings a fresh Canadian perspective to the surf rock genre, proving that you don't need tropical beaches to create compelling surf music—just the cold Pacific waters of British Columbia and a passion for the lifestyle.
