Suzie Vinnick is a Canadian roots and blues singer-songwriter born in Saskatoon on April 26, 1970, and is a multi-instrumentalist proficient in vocals, guitar, and bass. Growing up in Saskatoon, Vinnick began playing guitar at a young age. In high school, she played tenor saxophone in concert band and bass guitar in jazz band. By the time she was eighteen years old, Vinnick was running local blues sessions in Saskatoon. Suzie Vinnick moved to Ottawa in the summer of 1991 to perform as bassist with Tony D. and his Cool Band. Though she had planned to return home after the summer, she stayed in Ottawa where she quickly became a mainstay in the city's blues scene. Her first album, Angel in the Sidelines, was released in 1994 and expanded her blues style to include more folk and roots elements. Vinnick relocated to Toronto in 1999 and began performing with a variety of musicians. Suzie has won 12 Maple Blues Awards, including seven-time winner of the Maple Blues Award for Best Female Vocalist (2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2022), a two-time winner of the Maple Blues Award for Best Songwriter (2006, 2011) and Best Acoustic Act. She has won 2 Canadian Folk Music Awards, including the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Vocalist of the Year. She is a 3X Juno Nominee. She has also twice won the International Songwriting Competition – Blues Category. Suzie received the 2012 CBC Saturday Night Blues Great Canadian Blues Award and the 2012 Sirius XM Canada Blues Artist of the Year. She won a 2024 ECMA with her project A'Court, Spiegel and Vinnick. Her music has appeared in commercials for Tim Hortons, Interac, Ontario Foodland, Tetley's Tea and Shoppers Drug Mart, and she was the voice of Tim Horton's for 5 years.
