About

Sweet Alibi is a WCMA award-winning band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, that has been captivating audiences since 2009. The band features the luminous vocal harmonies of Jess Rae Ayre, Amber Nielsen, and Michelle Anderson, with bassist Alasdair Dunlop and drummer Sandy Fernandez rounding out the group. The Winnipeg-based folk/pop band infuses their signature harmonies with influences of everything from folk to country to soul. Anderson and Ayre have been friends since junior high, and the pair connected with Nielsen around 2009 to hang out and jam, and they became a band that day. Over a career now spanning a decade, Sweet Alibi has won a West Coast Music Award, charted on CBC Radio 2, and developed an audience across North America and in Europe. Their Make A Scene album scored 2022's Roots Duo/Group Recording of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and their We've Got To album scored 2014's Roots Duo/Group Recording of the Year. Their song Confetti occupied the Top 20 of CBC Radio 2's national chart for an impressive eight weeks, building on previous radio success. The band's music has also been featured on MTV Canada and CMT. With their tight three-part harmonies, infectious melodies, and genre-blending approach that seamlessly moves between folk, pop, and soul, Sweet Alibi has become one of Manitoba's most beloved musical exports.
