Tank and Dawg, also known as Tank and Poppa Dawg, is a Canadian blues duo collaboration between Sherman Tank Doucette and Rick Poppa Dawg Halisheff, two veterans of the Western Canadian blues scene. Sherman Doucette was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and grew up immersed in family music. He is a thirty year veteran of the Vancouver music scene who hosted a house band at the Yale Hotel for several years and shared the stage with blues legends such as John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, Long John Baldry & many more. He is known as a soulful singer and harmonica virtuoso. In 1977, a devastating explosion and severe burns nearly ended his career, but he recovered and continued to perform. Rick Poppa Dawg Halisheff has been a mainstay on the Western Canadian blues scene for over 25 years, making a name for himself based on his strong vocal and guitar abilities as well as being a seasoned songwriter. Rick has released 4 CDs with his band Dogskin Suit and two solo efforts, won 2 local Honour in the Arts awards and made it to the semi-finals of the 29th International Blues Challenge with his band in Memphis in 2013. Together, they perform as a blues duo bringing their combined decades of experience to the Canadian blues scene, delivering authentic, heartfelt blues with exceptional musicianship and the kind of chemistry that only comes from years of dedication to the craft.
