About

The Arrogant Worms are a Canadian musical comedy trio founded in 1991 that parodies many musical genres. The group formed in 1991 with founding members Trevor Strong, Mike McCormick, John Whytock, and Steve Wood, beginning by performing musical comedy on campus radio station CFRC at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and quickly moving to CBC Radio. The current lineup has consisted of Trevor Strong (vocals), Mike McCormick (guitar, vocals), and Chris Patterson (bass, vocals) since 1995. Steve Wood left the band in 1991, and John Whytock departed in 1995 to be replaced by Chris Patterson. They are well known for their humorous on-stage banter in addition to their music. Rock, folk, ballads, country, and children's music have all been genres parodied by the Worms. Their songs often focus on Canadian themes and culture, with popular tracks including Canada's Really Big, Me Like Hockey, and The Last Saskatchewan Pirate. The Worms have toured Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, playing to crowds as large as 100,000, including performances on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and at New York's Central Park. In 2003, they were recognized as Touring Act of the Year by the Canadian Arts Presenters Association. The band has sold more than 160,000 copies of their 13 albums. The band has long supported the cause of literacy in Canada and have twice won the Peter Gzowski Award for their efforts. Over three decades into their career, they continue to create music, releasing a new song every month on their Patreon page, providing tuneful and silly escapism for their fans.
