The Blue Hearts

The Blue Hearts consists of Mark Westcoast Comerford on Guitar & Percussion and Vocals, and Big Hank Lionhart on Lead Vocals. Both Mark and Hank are members of Uncle Wiggly's Hot Shoes Blues Band. Both musicians have been playing and recording the Blues for over 40 years with each other and in other Blues bands. In 2015 they went to Memphis to represent BC at the IBC's in the Band Category with Uncle Wiggly's Hot Shoes Blues Band and were excited to return to Memphis to compete in the Solo Duo category as The Blue Hearts. This format allows them to get back to the real roots of the Blues with just Guitar and Vocals, and Mark and Hank write and perform their own songs and stay true to the Blues. Mark moved to Toronto and played around the southern Ontario Blues bar circuit, and after returning home to Victoria he met Hank Lionhart through an advertisement looking for Blues musicians. Hank has recorded 9 CDs over a 50-year career and remains very passionate about the Blues. Together as The Blue Hearts, they strip the blues down to its essential elements, showcasing the power of voice and guitar to convey the deep emotions and authentic spirit that have defined the blues for generations.
