About

The Misery Mountain Boys were born in Peace River, Northern Alberta, and are the brainchild of frontman Steven Gevenich. Guitarist Steve Gevenich and mandolinist Dom Golec grew up sharing and creating music together in this small-town Northern Alberta setting. The band has been delivering top quality musicianship and a high energy performance for over 12 years. Formed over a dozen years ago in Peace River, AB, the group started with high-energy folk then moved to bluegrass. Sam Toms, Ethan Markwart, Steven Gevenich and Lindsay Bueckert have a sound with roots in bluegrass, western swing and gypsy jazz. They have not only toured Canada but also Europe. The band released an album called Milk & Moonshine (2019). The Misery Mountain Boys are described as a confident celebration of all that is moving about being alive. With their Northern Alberta roots, blend of bluegrass, western swing, and gypsy jazz influences, and years of touring experience across Canada and Europe, The Misery Mountain Boys bring high-energy traditional music with a contemporary twist, showcasing the vibrant bluegrass scene thriving in Canada's northern communities.
