Russell deCarle currently tours and records with his solo group The Russell deCarle Trio, which plays an eclectic mix of blues, jazz, country & western, Latin music, R&B and western swing. As a founding member and lead singer of Canadian country roots band Prairie Oyster, Russell deCarle and the band took home six Juno Awards, 11 Canadian Country Music Awards and had a number of top 10 singles and 8 top-selling albums. He formed The Russell deCarle Trio in Prairie Oyster's aftermath, performing an eclectic mix of blues, jazz, country, Latin, R&B and Western swing with Briggs and accordionist Denis Keldie (The Extras, Denis Keldie Trio, Jeff Healey, Etta James, Doug Riley). As a solo artist, deCarle released his debut album, Under The Big Big Sky, in 2010. The trio released Live At Loud Mouse Studios in 2014. The current configuration of deCarle's band features him playing rhythm guitar instead of bass. Alongside his more familiar slow-burning countrified classics and dance-worthy western swing tunes, deCarle also performs everything from southern soul and torchy ballads to timeless R&B and blues songs. The trio represents deCarle's post-Prairie Oyster solo career, showcasing a broader musical palette than traditional country music and highlighting his versatility as a vocalist and performer across multiple roots music genres.
