Daniel James McFadyen was born in Caledon, Ontario, and is an indie-folk artist who now calls Nova Scotia home. He attended Acadia University in Nova Scotia, an 18-hour drive from where he grew up outside of Toronto. McFadyen began his musical journey by playing at small, bustling venues in and around the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. After touring Nova Scotia extensively in 2019, Daniel's music began to gain publicity and popularity. McFadyen rose to stardom in the Canadian music scene with the release of his debut album "August, I'm Yours" in 2021. In 2020, he won The Grapevine's "Best Musician in the Annapolis Valley" award. In 2023, McFadyen's award-winning EP, "Songs to Show Your Friends," marked a creative leap from his "stomp and holler" folk roots to more intricate, melody-driven compositions. Produced by Montreal's Quinn Bachand, the EP delves into themes of love, loss, adventure, and home. In November 2024, McFadyen won three awards at the Music NS awards the most awards received at the event. His latest single, "Landmine," is the first release from his anticipated 2025 album. Known for his interactive shows, McFadyen's tours across Canada have sold out iconic venues, including Toronto's Great Hall and Halifax's Marquee Ballroom. His upbeat and captivating storytelling mixed with his interactive performances has made him a crowd favourite throughout the province. Daniel James McFadyen's energetic performances, relatable songwriting, and ability to connect with audiences have made him one of Atlantic Canada's most exciting emerging folk artists.
