Corridor

Corridor is a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal consisting of vocalist and bassist Dominic Berthiaume, guitarist Julian Perreault, guitarist and vocalist Jonathan Robert, and drummer Julien Bakvis, with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Samuel Gougoux in live performances. They play twitchy and tuneful post-punk-inspired indie rock and are historically significant as the first francophone band ever signed to the influential indie label Sub Pop. They are most noted for their 2019 album "Junior," which was a longlisted nominee for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.

Corridor began when Jonathan Robert, Julian Perreault, and former drummer Marc-André Chapdelaine started jamming together in 2012, though it wasn't until bassist and longtime friend Dominic Berthiaume joined the band later that year that they began calling the band Corridor. In November 2013, the band delivered "Un Magicien En Toi," a motorik guitar-pop record. On the heels of this first EP, Corridor re-entered the studio in June 2014 to work on their first full-length record, collaborating with producer Emmanuel Ethier to create "Le Voyage Éternel" (The Eternal Voyage). Marc-André departed the band shortly after the record's release and was replaced by current drummer Julien Bakvis.

Following the release of "Junior" in 2019, which garnered significant critical acclaim and international attention through their Sub Pop partnership, the band continued to evolve. Their latest album "Mimi" (2024) represents a huge step forward for the band. The album was a byproduct of not having access to their previous rehearsal space as the COVID-19 pandemic faded from public view, but also a result of the four-piece leaning harder into incorporating electronic textures than on previous records, demonstrating their willingness to experiment and grow.
