Gisto and the Grateful Living is a reggae jam band from Vancouver formed in 2020 that combines the sounds of classic Jamaican reggae and Dancehall with elements of the Grateful Dead, Phish, and Allman Brothers to create a unique and improvisational live experience. The lead singer Gisto, formerly of legendary Canadian band Wassabi Collective, brings decades of experience to the project. Gisto has shared stages with big names including Damian Marley, Lee Scratch Perry, Ghostface Killah, Kaos and more. The band is quickly gaining a reputation for their high-energy performances and soulful jams with singalong lyrics. They released their album 'and the Grateful Living' on April 16, 2025, featuring 13 tracks including songs like 'this is it,' 'Crazy,' 'Rocky Road,' and 'Manufactured Crisis.' Described as a diverse group of artists serving up tasty beats and dope melodies, they have an active presence with live performances throughout British Columbia. Their music is a testament to the power of musical fusion, blending the spiritual and rhythmic foundations of reggae with the extended improvisational approaches of jam bands.
