The Itamar Erez Quartet is led by internationally renowned composer, guitarist, and pianist Itamar Erez, who blends the delicateness of Middle Eastern music, the freedom found in jazz, and the passion of flamenco to create a unique sound. Erez is a recipient of the 2014 ACUM Prize for Special Achievement in Jazz and the prestigious 2014 Landau Prize. The North American lineup of the quartet features Itamar Erez on piano and guitar, John Nicholson on sax, Jeff Gammon on bass, and Kevin Romain on drums. The quartet's discography includes 'Desert Song' (2006), 'Hommage' (2010), and 'Mi Alegria' (2019), with 'May Song' released in October 2022 featuring music written during the COVID-19 pandemic. His sixth album 'Migrant Voices' was released in 2024 as a collaboration with Iranian-Canadian percussionist Hamin Honari. Throughout his career, Itamar has played at prestigious venues including Barbican Hall (London UK), Sydney Opera (Sydney, Australia), the Jerusalem Jazz Festival (Israel), Carnegie Hall (NY), and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. The quartet's music represents a sophisticated fusion of world music traditions with contemporary jazz improvisation, creating soundscapes that are both intellectually engaging and emotionally moving.
