Jared Jackel's Bad Vibrations & Volunteers
Psychedelic Folk
ActiveAbout
Jared Jackel's Bad Vibrations is one of BC's pre-eminent psychedelic recording projects from the Okanagan orchard home of Jared Jackel in Penticton, BC. The band's sound is described as part garage-rock, part freak-folk, part twang, and every once in a while you can hear a little surf swell into the mix. Acid-soaked, funk grooves with garage/psych flourishes make up this incredible psychedelic project. In 2019, Jared Jackel announced himself as one of Canada's coolest acts in the psychedelia genre with his debut album 'Saw-Horse Pentagrams.' In March 2022, he released 'Mal Casual,' followed by an EP entitled 'Bad Nauseam' in January. Jackel's captivating freak-folk live performances have propelled him from playing rural fruit-picker parties to opening for the likes of Destroyer. The live performances now feature tenor saxophonist Christine Chartrand, and Jackel's live sets showcase his unique lyricism while simultaneously commanding retro-world drum machines, droning foot-operated bass pedals, and unbridled post-western guitar picking. Penticton may be a small city not known for its music scene, but it houses one of Canada's most impressive psych-folk acts. The Volunteers bring additional musicians to support Jared's vision of psychedelic experimentation.
