About

Jimmy and the Sleepers are a house-rockin' Canadian blues band led by Edmonton Blues Hall of Fame guitarist Jimmy Guiboche, showcasing some of Alberta's finest blues talent. The band's lineup includes Jimmy Guiboche on guitar, Alex Varughese on vocals, Dave 'Crawdad' Cantera on harmonica, Chris Brzezicki on bass, and Grant Stovel on drums. Described as disciples of the early electric blues pioneers combined with a modern, original twist, they have created a sound all their own. Jimmy Guiboche was inducted into the Edmonton Blues Hall of Fame in 2020 in the performer category. The band has shared the stage with many blues luminaries including James Harman, Cedric Burnside, Lazy Lester, Carol Fran, Jody Williams (Howlin' Wolf) and Grammy award winner Donald Ray Johnson. Their work has been critically acclaimed, winning Edmonton Blues Society's Best Self Produced CD (2012), reaching semi-finalist at the International Blues Challenge's Best Self Produced CD (2013), and being nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award (2013). The band celebrated their 20th anniversary in March 2024, marking two decades of bringing authentic blues to Canadian audiences with passion and technical excellence.
