Layer Cake Mountain Band is a Canadiana folk/roots quartet from Kelowna, British Columbia featuring Shamma Sabir on fiddle and vocals, Sean Bray on guitar and vocals, Loni Moger on guitar and vocals, and Stefan Bienz on bass and vocals. The band debuted as a four-piece act in late summer 2022, taking their name from one of Kelowna's most prominent geological landmarks. The members weave together haunting harmonies, smooth chordal tones, and soulful string sounds against a backdrop of warm bass notes to create a unique soundscape described as rural modern…roots and beyond. Their debut studio album, 'The View from Here,' showcases their ability to blend traditional folk and roots influences with contemporary sensibilities. The band performs at various venues including theatres, festivals, and house concerts throughout British Columbia. Each member brings strong vocal abilities to the group, allowing for rich four-part harmonies that have become a signature of their sound. Layer Cake Mountain represents the new generation of Canadian roots music, honoring folk traditions while creating something fresh and relevant for contemporary audiences.
