About

The Lonesome Town Painters are a traditional bluegrass band from Vancouver, British Columbia consisting of Patrick Bartel on banjo and lead vocals, Jeremy Freeman on mandolin and lead vocals, Fred Beach on bass, and Angelo Eidse on guitar and lead vocals, with everyone singing harmony. Despite hailing from Vancouver, thousands of miles from Appalachia, their allegiance to traditional bluegrass is undeniable, and they make no effort to veer from a traditional template. The quartet met through late-night jam sessions at Vancouver's ANZA Club and their mutual love of The Stanley Brothers. Their music is influenced by classic bluegrass artists like Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, and The Johnson Mountain Boys. The band has released three albums so far, featuring three and four part harmonies, adept instrumentation, and songs that take their cue from archival origins. Their third release, 'Go Out & Paint The Town,' is arguably the most original of their recordings, featuring original material alongside classic covers. The Lonesome Town Painters represent the continuation of traditional bluegrass music in an unlikely location, proving that the power of this American art form transcends geography.
