About

Lisa LeBlanc, born August 13, 1990, is a Canadian singer-songwriter and banjoist from Rosaireville, New Brunswick, known for her enthusiastic "trash folk" performances. LeBlanc is of Acadian heritage and comes from a family of music lovers. She has been noted for her "distinct" blend of folk, rock, and disco with both English and French language lyrics combined with chiac and her Acadian accent. LeBlanc composed her first pieces around age fourteen. She was playing at local events and Miramichi's O'Donaghues bar, with her mother watching her because she was underage. The year 2010 marked a turning point in her career when she graduated and won the Festival international de la chanson de Granby. The long-awaited launch of Lisa LeBlanc's first album was held at the Lion d'Or cabaret in Montreal on March 28, 2012. Her fans lined up around the corner to get in; 450 of them packed the room while dozens more were turned away for lack of space. Her accolades include two Félix Awards and an East Coast Music Award. She has also been nominated for three JUNO Awards, the SOCAN Songwriting Prize, and shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize twice. Lisa LeBlanc's energetic performances, distinctive Acadian accent, and fearless blending of genres have made her a unique and beloved voice in Canadian music, celebrating her Acadian heritage while pushing musical boundaries.
