ActiveAbout
Sound Company is a band with roots going back to the 1960s-1970s era that evolved from a group called The Fabulous Stingrays. In late 1967 or early 1968, The Fabulous Stingrays changed their name to The Sound Company. Originating from Neosho, Missouri, the band was a Musicians Union protected act that regularly performed for High Schools, Colleges and Clubs in the Four States area. Band members included Gary Lohmann on VOX guitar, Carl Stevens on the first double bass drum kit, and Gary Jones. Later, Sound Company evolved into a group called Mizzouri Foxx when they moved to California and were signed as the only rock and roll (white musicians) band on the MVP/Polydor Records label. The name SO_CO Sound Company references this historical band while bringing their classic rock and soul sound to contemporary audiences. There is also a modern band called Sound Company from Louisville, KY playing rhythm & blues, groove, and rock 'n' roll. The Sound Company name represents a commitment to authentic, soulful music rooted in the classic sounds of the 1960s and 70s.
