The McMillan's Camp Boys & Volunteers
Bluegrass/Old-Time
ActiveAbout
The McMillan's Camp Boys is a duo consisting of Joshua Douglas Alexander Kaiser on vocals, guitar, banjo, and harmonica, and Levon James Lindequist on vocals, guitar, and banjo. Originally hailing from the Rocky Mountains of western Canada, they now call Nova Scotia home. Their wide repertoire includes traditional country, bluegrass, and old-time music, as well as original songs. Their early influences included old folk and blues players like Lightnin' Hopkins and Big Bill Broonzy, though their musical taste has shifted to a more traditional country and bluegrass sound, heavily influenced by groups like The Stanley Brothers and The Carter Family, as well as old-time banjo pickers like Roscoe Holcomb and Frank Proffitt. They released an album on September 15, 2023, and their debut EP 'Actually Pretty Good' was released on January 20, 2023. When performing with Volunteers, The McMillan's Camp Boys expand their sound with additional musicians who support their traditional country and bluegrass approach. The duo represents the continuation of Appalachian musical traditions in Canada, proving that geography doesn't limit the authenticity of traditional American roots music.
