About

The Meadowlark Nature Festival has been presented every May long-weekend since 1998 in Penticton, BC, offering interactive events including canoe trips, guided hikes, film screenings, Aboriginal culture, inspirational speakers, bird watching tours, backcountry horseback riding, geological tours, astronomy events, art exhibitions, photography, writing and painting workshops, and historic hikes. The festival runs from May 15 to 19 annually, hosted by the Okanagan-Similkameen Conservation Alliance (OSCA). More than 60 tours have been scheduled, with the festival typically drawing between 2,000 and 2,500 participants each year. The Opening and Film Night is a special event that kicks off the festival, featuring environmental and nature documentaries that align with the festival's mission of celebrating and protecting the natural environment of the Okanagan-Similkameen region. Tours include hiking, biking, paddling, walking, birding, accessible, and family-friendly options, all with an ecological or cultural focus, led by local mentors and conservation partners. The festival explores everything from the area's semi-arid ecosystems to alpine meadows high above the valleys. Meadowlark Nature Festival is the flagship event of OSCA, a registered non-profit charitable organization dedicated to conservation.
