Les Hay Babies

Les Hay Babies is an indie folk trio from New Brunswick, Canada. Its members—Julie Aubé (banjo), Katrine Noël (ukulele), and Vivianne Roy (guitar)—each grew up in a small Acadian village. They met during a provincial battle of the bands (Accros de la chanson) where they were each performing as solo artists. Then they ran into each other at another music contest, le Gala de la chanson de Caraquet. This time, they realized how well their unique voices and different musical influences meshed together. And in November 2011, Les Hay Babies were officially born. In 2011, they were fresh out of high school, and each of them was thinking about starting to push their own solo musical career when they decided that it would be much more fun to unite their forces.
Since forming a band in 2011, they have launched their EP "Folio" (2012) and the albums "Mon homesick heart" (2014), "La 4ième dimension (version longue)" (2016), and "Boîte aux lettres" (2020), shifting from indie-folk and country to classic rock and disco. After releasing their first EP "Folio" and opening for Lisa LeBlanc in 2012, the dynamic singer-songwriter trio garnered six Music New Brunswick awards and won top honours at the 2013 Francouvertes festival.
Their latest album "Tintamarre" led them to address Acadian identity through song, drawing on its inherent joie de vivre, its assertive voice, and its pride. The group has seen success in Canada and in Europe, representing Acadian culture and the French language minority in Canada with pride and energy.
