About

Stéphanie Boulay is from Gaspésie, Quebec, specifically from Carleton-sur-Mer, in Gaspésie, where she grew up in a musical family and began her training at young ages. Stéphanie Boulay, along with her sister Mélanie Boulay, formed the duo Les sœurs Boulay. They grew up in a musical family and began their training at young ages. For several years they toured, both solo and together, as choir members before they decided to team up as a duo. The Gaspé duo of Stéphanie and Mélanie Boulay became the sensation of the Quebec music scene in the first half of 2013 with a recording titled 'Le poids des confettis' (The Weight of Confetti), a 13-song album, mostly of their own composition. They won awards at the Francouvertes after releasing an EP in February 2012. Following her studies in music at Drummondville, then in literature at l'UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal), Stéphanie began her musical journey. Stéphanie sang on tour for Kevin Parent after her graduation in Montreal. Stéphanie Boulay launched her first solo album, 'Ce que je te donne ne disparaît pas,' on Nov. 2, 2018. When Les soeurs Boulay took a sabbatical, in November of 2017, so that Mélanie could enjoy her pregnancy, Stéphanie figured she'd travel and take it easy. 'It lasted a month,' she says. Stéphanie Boulay has returned to the stage with her second solo album, 'Est-ce que quelqu'un me voit?' The new collection of songs gives a new perspective on this solo sister, who moves away from the country/folk sound of her duo, and embraces classic 'chanson française.'
