Amélie Beyries, professionally known as BEYRIES, is a Canadian folk-pop singer and songwriter from Montreal, Quebec, born and raised in the Outremont neighborhood. She worked in public relations until age 28 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. While undergoing treatment, she began writing songs to deal with her emotions and eventually worked with producer Alex McMahon to complete her first album. BEYRIES started writing songs at her grandmother's piano at a young age but kept those songs to herself. Her path to music was shaped by adversity—after her first cancer diagnosis, she faced a second recurrence of the disease, which deepened her commitment to music as a form of healing and expression. On February 24, 2017, BEYRIES released her debut studio album "Landing." Although BEYRIES is francophone, the album is predominantly in English, except for the song "J'aurai cent ans," a duet with Louis-Jean Cormier. Her sophomore album "Encounter" was released in 2020. BEYRIES was a shortlisted nominee for the 2017 SOCAN Songwriting Prize in the French-language division for "J'aurai cent ans." Her music has resonated widely, with 11.5K in album sales and 15 million streams across all platforms. BEYRIES' music is characterized by ethereal vocals, introspective lyrics, and atmospheric production that blends folk, pop, and indie influences, creating soundscapes that are both intimate and expansive.
