About

Laurence-Anne, born Laurence-Anne Charest Gagné, is a self-taught Quebec musician and singer-songwriter originally from Saint-Pascal in the Kamouraska RCM of Quebec. She is a self-taught singer and guitarist who was a teenager when she wrote her first songs, initially inspired by Feist and drawn towards the minimalist indie folk sound. She was a finalist in the 2017 edition of the Francouvertes music competition, which helped launch her career.

Her debut album "Première apparition" was released independently in February 2019 and was named on the long list of the prestigious Polaris Prize, establishing her as a rising talent in Quebec's indie music scene. She released her second opus "Musivision" in 2021, co-produced by Félix Petit. In September 2023, Laurence-Anne released "Oniromancie," a third album that is denser, darker, and more nocturnal than its predecessors and her most explicitly dream pop album, evoking the sounds of artists such as Beach House, Weyes Blood, and Cocteau Twins.

Her musical style is described as a blend of dream pop, coldwave, and synthpop inspired by her imagination, intimately connected to her experiences. Laurence-Anne has presented her work at most of Quebec's major music festivals including La Noce, FME, Frimat, FEQ, and Le Festif, and has also performed in France and the United States, including at SXSW, building an international following for her ethereal, atmospheric music.
