About

Arcana Kings (meaning "secrets or mysteries") is a Canadian rock band that formed in 2016, formerly known as the Johnny McCuaig Band before officially rebranding. The band consists of Johnny McCuaig on lead vocals, bagpipes, and rhythm guitar, lead guitarist James Picton, rhythm guitarist and vocalist Allan Morrison, bassist Jason Arcand, and drummer Graham Templeman. Their not-so-secret weapon—the bagpipes—sets the band apart in the Canadian rock landscape, creating a fantastic blend of Rock, Pop, and Punk with a uniquely Celtic-infused edge.

Johnny McCuaig was born and raised in Nelson, British Columbia, and began playing bagpipes with the Nelson Kootenay Kiltie Pipe Band at a very young age, developing skills that would later become a signature element of Arcana Kings' sound. The band released their debut album "Lions As Ravens" in 2019, which featured singles "HERE WE GO," "RUN RUNAWAY," and "MOTHER," showcasing their ability to seamlessly integrate traditional bagpipe melodies with contemporary rock arrangements.

As The Johnny McCuaig Band, they were nominated for numerous awards including Best Music Video, Artist of the Year, and Best Rock Song at the Kootenay Music Awards, as well as Best Rock Video at the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards. These accolades recognized their innovative approach to blending traditional Celtic instrumentation with modern rock music, creating a sound that honors McCuaig's bagpiping heritage while pushing the boundaries of what rock music can incorporate.
