Nice Horse is a Canadian female country duo consisting of Brandi Sidoryk and Katie Rox. The band originally formed as a four-piece group. Several years ago, they decided to take a girls' trip to Hawaii for fun and do some songwriting. Everything was coming out country, and that's when Nice Horse was born. The band, made up of Katie Rox (vocals/banjo/acoustic guitar), Brandi Sidoryk (vocals/bass), Tara McLeod (vocals/electric guitar), and Krista Wodelet (vocals/drums), has garnered significant accolades since forming in 2015. The members come from diverse musical backgrounds - Rox was the lead vocalist for the indie/rock band Jakalope, Sidoryk has been an opera singer, Wodelet is a classically trained bassoonist, and McLeod shredded guitar in the heavy metal band Kittie. Nice Horse has achieved significant recognition in the Canadian country music scene. They have five Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) nominations, eight Country Music Alberta Awards, and the 2021 Western Canadian Music Award for Country Artist of the Year. For two years running (2021 and 2022), Nice Horse has been named Country Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards. They won Music Video of the Year for "High School" at the 2022 Canadian Country Music Awards and had 3 wins for the 2022 Country Music Alberta Awards. The band has performed at major festivals and toured as direct support for legendary artists such as Tom Cochrane and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Their unique blend of backgrounds creates a fresh, dynamic approach to country music.
