Joey Landreth was born June 14, 1986, in Winnipeg, Canada, and is a celebrated guitarist known for his soulful blend of blues and roots rock. Joey was raised in a household of blue-collar artists and DIY entrepreneurs, with his father, Wally Landreth, a working musician who filled the family's WWII-era shack with songs by Bonnie Raitt, John Hiatt, and Lyle Lovett. Working as a side man through his teens and early twenties Joey grew up on the road, playing music across genres from gospel to country. As a member of The Bros. Landreth, Joey has carved out a niche with his emotive playing and rich, resonant voice. They released their award-winning debut album independently and later formed their own record label, Birthday Cake, with Joey serving as the company's creative director. Bonnie Raitt recorded her own version of the band's "Made Up Mind", and Bonnie won the Grammy for Best Americana performance. The brothers also received an invitation to play at the prestigious Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2023. Joey Landreth draws inspiration from a wide range of artists, including Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder, and John Mayer. He's an inventive guitarist, relying on his fingers (and, often, a slide), and he's a guitarist's guitarist who believes in serving the song itself. Joey Landreth's soulful guitar playing, his warm vocals, and his dedication to authentic roots music have made him one of Canada's most respected contemporary blues and roots artists.
