Irish Mythen is an Irish-born Canadian contemporary folk singer-songwriter, born Jane Irish Theres Monica Bernadette Mythen in County Wexford, Ireland. Set on pursuing a music career following her first gig at age 15 at the Al Ain Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, she moved to Prince Edward Island in 2007, lured to Canada after the Stan Rogers Folk Festival showed her such a good time. She found the atmosphere on the East Coast conducive to taking her budding music career more seriously. Her first two full-length albums were "Sweet Necessity" in 2008 and "Open Here" in 2011. Her third self-titled LP "Irish Mythen," released in 2014, won the East Coast Music Association 2015 Roots Album of the Year. Her album "Little Bones" received a JUNO Award nomination for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year at the 2020 JUNO Awards and won the Canadian Folk Music Award for Solo Artist of the Year. She won the Songwriter of the Year Award in 2016 for her song "Gypsy Dancer." Career highlights include a JUNO nomination, multiple award wins, and performances at iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House and Glastonbury Festival. In recent years, Mythen has performed with Rod Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot, and Lucinda Williams at major festival stages worldwide. Originally from Ireland and now based in Prince Edward Island, Irish Mythen has become a vital voice in Canadian folk music, bringing her authentic Irish roots to Canadian shores while building a devoted following through powerful vocals and engaging performances.
