Born in Canada in 1999, Porat was raised in Toronto. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Porat first gained recognition by posting covers on YouTube. She started posting YouTube videos in 2016, gaining viral success with her covers of "You Are the Reason" by Calum Scott and "Don't Watch Me Cry" by Jorja Smith, which received 24 million and 14 million views, respectively. Leveraging YouTube, her crystalline voice garnered over a million global subscribers in just over a decade. Before YouTube, she studied business management at Ryerson University. Then came a first album — "Miss Sick World" — in 2021, followed by the EP "Kiss Face" in 2022. In February 2019, she competed on the Canadian singing competition series, The Launch. With public praise from Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes for her "awesome voice," Alex Porat emerges as a rising talent. Her ability to connect with audiences through social media and her distinctive vocal style have made her one of Canada's most promising young artists.
