About

Devon Cole, born April 1, 1998, is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Calgary, Alberta, who specializes in addictive alt-pop confections with a bold feminist bent. She sang in choirs and has written songs since her pre-teens, but Cole headed off to Kingston to attend the University of Calgary, where she earned a degree in psychology. After graduating in 2020, she was getting ready to study advertising in the fall when all the pandemic-related downtime pushed her to realize that she didn't want to commit to a non-music career without ever releasing a song.

The Calgary native emerged in 2020 with the ebullient single "July for the Whole Year," which became a viral hit on TikTok, launching her music career in the midst of a global pandemic. She is mostly known for her single "W.I.T.C.H.," of which the demo went viral on TikTok, resonating with young women who connected with her unapologetically feminist lyrics and catchy melodies. The song's success demonstrated Cole's ability to tap into contemporary conversations about feminism and empowerment through accessible pop music.

Cole received a 2023 Juno nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, recognizing her rapid ascent in Canadian music. She was also nominated for Favorite Breakout Artist for the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and earned a win as Amazon Music's Breakthrough Canada Artist of 2023. On July 5, 2025, Cole was the sole opener for performer Shania Twain at the Scotiabank Saddledome during the Calgary Stampede, a hometown triumph that brought her full circle to perform in front of her community alongside one of Canada's biggest country-pop stars.
