Ghostly Kisses is the musical project of French-Canadian singers Margaux Sauvé and Louis-Étienne Santais, based in Quebec. The duo is known for their ethereal, melancholic soundscapes in the dream pop genre, creating music that feels both intimate and expansive. The group was formed in 2015 in Québec, Canada.
Margaux Sauvé began playing the violin at age 5, following in the footsteps of her family of musicians, and years later started to sing and wrote her first songs. The name "Ghostly Kisses" was inspired by reading William Faulkner's poem "Une ballade des dames perdues," and seemed like a beautiful reflection of Margaux's ethereal voice. She never considered singing professionally until a creative burst during her university psychology studies led her to compose songs, and encouraged by Dragos Chiriac (Men I Trust), she began her musical career, releasing her first single "Never Know" in 2015.
In 2017, her song "Such Words" reached more than 50,000 plays on Spotify within 24 hours of its release, signaling the project's growing appeal. Ghostly Kisses was part of the International Festival of Jazz of Montreal and Festival d'Été of Quebec and opened for internationally renowned artists such as RY X, Charlotte Cardin, Trixie Whitley, and Milk & Bone in Canada and the US. In 2018, she released "The City Holds My Heart - EP," produced by Louis-Étienne Santais (Fjord). Ghostly Kisses provided the score to the Spotify Original series podcast "Red Frontier," which premiered on June 14, 2021, written and directed by Emmy Award-winning director Sarah Nolen. The song "Empty Note" by Ghostly Kisses has been featured in the Netflix series The Rain and Skam Italia. Sauvé is signed to the British record label Akira Records.
