Goldie Boutilier, born Kristin Kathleen Boutilier on July 31, 1985, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, model, and DJ from Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia. Raised on the music of Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton, Goldie's music is noted for its cinematic quality and exploration of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholia. Her first performance was at age five in her hometown with The Men of the Deeps Choir—North America's only coal miners' choir—and she used her family's junkyard business as a rehearsal space, grounding her in working-class Cape Breton culture.
At the age of 21, Boutilier moved to Los Angeles where she was signed by Interscope Records after being discovered by OneRepublic singer Ryan Tedder. In 2011, she was signed to Interscope Records under the moniker My Name Is Kay, releasing her debut single "My Name Is Kay" on April 2, 2011. Boutilier re-emerged under the moniker Goldilox in 2015, where she began DJing and modeling in Paris, France. She soon signed a recording contract with Sony Music imprint Insanity Records. She later changed her legal name to Goldie Boutilier and also decided to change her stage name to her real name, stating that the "lox" in Goldilox "felt juvenile."
She returned to her hometown roots and re-established herself as an alt-country star with a nod to 1950s and 1960s Americana. Starting back at zero with just her name and her stories, she gained more than 11 million streams on streaming platforms in just two years as an independent artist. Her new era of music has earned praise from Zane Lowe and Elton John, booked her for iconic festivals such as Lollapalooza and Calgary Stampede, and she was hand-picked for an opening slot by Orville Peck for his North American tour. She released her EP "Cowboy Gangster Politician" on November 3, 2022, and her third album "Goldie Boutilier Presents... Goldie Montana" on September 5, 2025. She is also a successful model, appearing in campaigns for Diesel Black Gold, H&M, John Galliano, Casablanca, and Luisaviaroma.
