The High Bar Gang is a Canadian bluegrass band, based in Vancouver. According to the band's web site, Colin Nairne brought the group together in 2010 to play his favourite bluegrass songs. The band features Shari Ulrich, Wendy Bird and Kirby Barber on vocals, guitarist Barney Bentall and banjo player Dave Barber, supported by Rob Becker on bass, and Colin Nairne on guitar and mandolin. The band's repertoire stays firmly rooted in the golden age of bluegrass music with songs by the likes of Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers and Del McCoury. In 2013 the band signed a record deal with True North Records resulting in the release of their debut recording 'Lost and Undone: A Gospel Bluegrass Companion.' They were nominated for a Juno Award in 2014 in the category 'Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year', and won 'Vocal Group of the Year' at the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards. The band has been popular in their home province of British Columbia selling out many of their shows, and were asked to open for Blue Rodeo when they played in Vancouver. In early 2016 the band finished their sophomore recording 'Someday the Heart will Trouble the Mind' with engineer Dave Meszaros at Watershed Productions in Vancouver.
