About

King Cruff is the stage name of Solomon Marley-Spence, a Jamaican-raised, Toronto-based MC. He was born in London, Ontario, and was raised in Kingston, Jamaica, where he was influenced by reggae legends like Beres Hammond. He is signed to Tuff Gong/Universal Music Canada and describes his unique sound as 'punky,' which refers to an ear-bending amalgam of Black musical styles. Drawing on his audio engineering background, the versatile King Cruff fuses genres across the diaspora including hip-hop, Afrobeats, dancehall, and reggae. Cruff happens to be Bob and Rita Marley's grandson, though his musical journey took him beyond traditional reggae. At first, he aspired to be a reggae artist but found himself more skilled in hip-hop music, and when he moved back to London at age 17, he began to discover himself as an artist. In March 2025, his single 'FALLBACK' featuring Runkus earned him his first JUNO Award nomination for Reggae Recording of the Year. He released his debut EP 'WHAT HAVE I DON' to critical acclaim, landing multiple 'Best Of' lists, and has achieved two consecutive Top 40 radio hits in Canada, 'Soufflé' and 'PROPPA GHANDA'. The 27-year-old has performed at major festivals including SXSW, NXNE, and Cali Vibes Festival, and has opened for artists like Stonebwoy, DillonPonders, and Damien and Stephen Marley.
