Sofia Camara was born in Terceira Island, Portugal, on May 21, 2002, and was raised in Toronto, Canada. She is a Portuguese and Canadian musician who started writing music at the age of 13. Camara first picked up a guitar when she was a young girl as a means to cope with her anxiety, and soon started taking weekly lessons. Her musical influences are diverse, drawing from both rock and pop genres - she grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and Nirvana, while also being inspired by vocal powerhouses like Ariana Grande and Adele. Mid-COVID, her take on 'When I Look At You' by Miley Cyrus exploded on TikTok, scoring 9.8 million views and a comment from Miley herself. Her original 'Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)' surged online, gathering north of 91 million streams and counting. Her debut EP, 'Was I(t) Worth It?' was released on Universal Music Canada in 2025. In 2023, Camara opened for Scott Helman on his Back Together tour, and for Virginia to Vegas on his Life Gets Interesting tour. In 2024, she opened for Shawn Desman in Canada, Alex Warren in Europe, and Dean Lewis in the UK. She also headlined a show in Europe and performed the Canadian national anthem before the CFL's Grey Cup championship game.
