The Blue Stones are a Canadian blues rock duo based in Windsor, Ontario, consisting of Tarek Jafar (vocals, guitar) and Justin Tessier (drums, vocals). The two have been friends and collaborators since their high school days, developing a musical chemistry that has become the foundation of their powerful, guitar-driven sound. They made their official recording debut as The Blue Stones in 2011 with a self-titled EP, followed by extensive touring around Ontario that helped them build a dedicated grassroots following.
They released their first full-length album "How's That Sound" in 2013 and toured across Canada supporting major acts like Fitz and the Tantrums and the Stone Foxes, honing their live performance skills. Working with renowned Canadian producer Ian Blurton, The Blue Stones recorded their second album, taking a rawer, more aggressive approach on 2016's gritty "Black Holes." The album's lead single "Rolling with the Punches" found placements in popular television shows like Suits, Shameless, and Monday Night Football, bringing them to a much wider audience and demonstrating the commercial appeal of their hard-hitting blues rock sound.
In August 2018, The Blue Stones signed a record contract with Entertainment One, where they subsequently announced plans to re-release their debut LP "Black Holes" on October 26, 2018, giving the album a second life with wider distribution. The duo released their next full-length album "Hidden Gems" in 2021, continuing to refine their signature blend of heavy blues riffs, rock energy, and melodic songwriting that has made them one of Canada's premier rock duos.
