Leeroy Stagger is a Canadian alternative country singer-songwriter raised in rural British Columbia, born October 28, 1982. Stagger worked in several local bands until gaining attention from acts such as Hot Hot Heat and Carolyn Mark. Reinventing himself as a singer-songwriter, he released his debut independent EP "Six Tales of Danger" in 2002. He spent 15 years in Lethbridge, Alberta, but moved back with his family to his hometown of Victoria in 2020. Stagger has gone on tour as a supporting act for The Pixies, Modest Mouse, and Evan Dando, and has toured and played with artists such as Steve Earle, Jason Isbell, Drive By Truckers, and Josh Ritter. Leeroy Stagger has won several prestigious awards: Canadian Folk Music Awards Solo Artist of the Year WINNER (2017), Western Canadian Music Awards Roots Solo Artist of the Year WINNER (2018), and Alberta's 95.3 Peak FM Peak Performance Project WINNER (2015). He also won the Calgary Folk Music Festival's Pros and Prose contest. He has received nominations including Indie88 Singer-songwriter Artist of the Year nominee (2018) and Western Canadian Music Awards Recording of the Year nominee (2018). Breaking genres and defying labels, Stagger has continuously pushed the boundaries of alternative country music, earning him a devoted following across North America and Europe. His music is characterized by introspective lyrics, raw emotional honesty, and a distinctive voice that blends country, rock, and folk influences.
