About

Cat Clyde is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter from Stratford, Ontario, known for her country-folk sound drenched in roots influences: blues, soul, folk, jump, jazz, and even swing. Born and raised around the Canadian province of Ontario, her family finally settled in Perth County when she was age ten. Cat began playing music and composing songs at a young age, teaching herself how to play guitar at age 14. During high school, she played in several bands and graduated from a music industry arts program in 2015. She is a multi-instrumentalist whose specialty is writing contemporary songs in traditional forms. Her influences range from Patsy Cline and Lead Belly to Karen Dalton and Bobbie Gentry, with her country-folk sound drawing on early influences like Robert Johnson, The Mississippi Sheiks, and Lightnin' Hopkins. Her debut album "Ivory Castanets" was released May 5, 2017, and included the single "Mama Said," which received over 9 million streams on Spotify. Her second album "Hunter's Trance" was released in 2019. Her third album "Down Rounder" was recorded in six days with producer Tony Berg in a Los Angeles studio in 2023. In 2018, she went on a sold-out European tour with Shakey Graves. She has shared the stage with Rodriguez, the legendary Paul Kelly, and other renowned artists. Cat Clyde's warm, smoky vocals and vintage-inspired sound have earned her a devoted following and critical acclaim.
