Stephen Stanley is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter and guitarist, most known as a founding member, lead guitarist and vocalist with acclaimed, early 90's alt-rock band, The Lowest of the Low. After years of touring with acts like Billy Bragg, The Violent Femmes, The Jayhawks and Lloyd Cole, and earning a gold record for their album Shakespeare My Butt, Stanley now leads The Stephen Stanley Band. The band released the album Before The Collapse Of The Hive on Wolfe Island Records, featuring raw urgency and soul-searching storytelling about those he loves and has lost. Their 2018 album Jimmy & The Moon was described as having big and bold songs. Stephen Stanley's songwriting combines literary sensibility with rock energy, creating songs that explore themes of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships. His work with The Lowest of the Low established him as an important voice in Canadian alternative rock, while his solo work has allowed him to explore more personal and introspective territory.
