Lydia Hol is a Vancouver-based singer-songwriter known for her folk and indie music style. A love for singing and English literature initially attracted Hol to the craft. Hol studied jazz vocals and then started playing with a few different bands, joining them on the road. She released her first recording in 2012, an EP entitled "Boats," recorded on the Gulf Islands. Hol's debut LP "Heading North" was released in January 2016, which featured more instrumentation than her previous work, including strings and organ. Her newest record is titled "Some Dreamers of the Golden Dream," which was inspired by Joan Diddin's "Slouching Towards Bethlehem." The album's lush instrumentation pulls from country, soul, and psychedelia, with a hint of Beach Boys nostalgia. Hol has shared the stage with folk greats like Sylvia Tyson, Dar Williams, and Shari Ulrich. She has also participated in international songwriting programs, including the House of Songs songwriter exchange program in Austin, Texas. Lydia Hol's music is characterized by thoughtful lyrics, warm vocals, and atmospheric production that blends folk traditions with contemporary indie sensibilities. Her ability to craft intimate, evocative songs has earned her a growing following in Vancouver's vibrant music scene and beyond.
