Jennifer Scott is a Canadian jazz vocalist and pianist born in Vancouver, BC, specializing in jazz, blues, and world music. She grew up in Blueridge, a neighbourhood in North Vancouver, and developed an interest in jazz from choir director Dennis Colpitts at Windsor Secondary School. She studied jazz at Vancouver Community College and classical music at the University of British Columbia. Considered the finest Jazz Vocal Improviser in Canada by her peers, fans, and the musicians who work with her, Jennifer Scott has sung with jazz greats including Gene Bertoncini, Clark Terry, Tommy Banks, Paul Horn, and Kenny Wheeler. Jennifer Scott has performed to sold-out crowds from San Diego to Vancouver to Whitehorse on the West Coast of Canada and has begun a major foray onto the world stage, including performances in Amsterdam, Milan, and Rome. She has been nominated for JUNO and Jessie Awards with 'Mythos' and the theatre production 'War of the Worlds.' Her vocals have been critically lauded on four JUNO-nominated recordings by Mythos. Jennifer has recorded numerous well-received and award-winning CDs including "Mess Around" with Crossing Borders, "Sonho Meu" with her ensemble Brasileira, "Chance" with NYC guitarist Peter Bernstein, "Duets," and "Pairings" with husband/bassist Rene Worst. Jennifer Scott is a certified Level III teacher of Somatic Voicework – The Lovetri Method. Her versatility, improvisational skills, and warm stage presence have made her a beloved figure in Canadian jazz, admired for her ability to move seamlessly between various jazz styles and world music traditions.
