Harrow Fair is a Canadian powerhouse folk duo comprised of Miranda Mulholland and Andrew Penner, formed in 2016 and based in Toronto, Ontario. The duo delivers foot-thumping, soul-wrenching, transcendent Americana that has quickly earned them recognition in the Canadian music scene. Andrew Penner, a multi-instrumentalist, performer, composer, actor, sound designer, and producer, grew up in a Mennonite family on a farm in southern Ontario. Miranda Mulholland was noted for her fiddle playing abilities before joining Harrow Fair, bringing her exceptional string work to the partnership. Harrow Fair's debut album "Call To Arms" was released in 2016, showcasing their distinctive blend of folk traditions with contemporary energy. Despite being a relatively young duo, Harrow Fair has made a significant impact through their dynamic live performances and ability to fuse traditional folk with modern sensibilities. Their music is characterized by powerful harmonies, virtuosic instrumental work, and an ability to connect with audiences through both their musicianship and storytelling. The duo has actively toured in support of their albums, with their ability to continue performing surprising even themselves. Harrow Fair represents a new generation of Canadian folk musicians who honor traditional roots while pushing the genre forward with innovation and passion. Their name evokes rural Canadian life, and their music reflects both the hardscrabble reality and the transcendent beauty of that experience.
